What I Do

It doesn’t do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.
J.R. Tolkien

What “live dragons” are you facing in your life? We all have them. They show up in forms such as major stress, anger, conflict, sadness, anxiety, etc.. At times these “dragons” can lie dormant and under control. However, at other times they breathe fire and cause havoc in our daily lives and relationships. In these moments we realize trying to keep them under control is no longer working, and we need to seek help from someone who deals with dragons.

Hi, my name is Dyne, and I deal with dragons. I do so, in part, because I am personally familiar with many of them during the course of my life’s journey and because for many years I have helped others slay their dragons. My great interest and joy is in coming alongside people to help identify their dragons and begin the process of taming them, and in so doing, find hope, wholeness, and healing in life.

Who I Am

I am a local girl, born and raised here in the Islands. I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (BEd). My love for children and teaching made this an obvious choice for me, however, a series of unexpected experiences eventually drew me toward the field of Counseling and Psychology. This turn of events led me to Trinity International University in Illinois to attain a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology (MACP), where I found my place in meeting a great need in people’s lives. Along the journey I returned to graduate school at Chaminade University in Hawaii to attain licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have been working in this field for the past 20 years and remain grateful to still be doing what I love.

What to Expect

We both have an important role to play in the counseling process. I will create a safe, warm, and professional environment for you to share your life and all that is going on. I will listen, provide grace, offer feedback, and challenge you toward deeper thoughts, different perspectives, healthier communication skills, and ways to genuinely navigate through the hurt, confusion, and/or broken places in your life situation. Your part will be to engage with sincere effort, honesty, and commitment to ensure personal change, growth, and healing that makes the process worthwhile and life changing.

It is through the pain of confronting and resolving problems that we learn (and live more fully).
M.S. Peck, M.D.

I work with adults (18 years and older) and provide counseling for individuals, couples, and marriages. Some of the areas I focus on are depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, marital conflict, grief and loss, stress and anger management, and issues of spirituality.
